Ihere was a good attendance; the Kev.,. J. D, Russell presiding. The report stated that the vestry had' pleasure in placing- before the parishioners a.iugMy satisfactory statement. Although in some instances the sources of revenue- had /slightly fallen ■ off,. yet on the whole the church was to be congratulated on the state of the finances Two somewhat important matters had been carried out during the past year viz., tho'painting of 1 the church and the procuring of a curate, the appointment 'of whom was made possible by a personal canvass of parishioners, who guaranteed theMpend;"-'.. 1l ' 1 ':" ,*- 1 The balance-sheet for the year ending March 31 showed a credit balance of £45 17s. 3d., and an excess of assets over liabilities' amounting to £38 lls. Id. The following officers'.were elected for , the ensuing year:—Vicar's churchwarden, Mr/ Rodgers; parishioners' churchwarden, Mr. T. H. Mason. !; /PROMENADE CONCJERT..: ■ He promenade concert' held in the Petone Drill Hall last evening in aid of the Petone ambulance wagon - fund was not very well attended, but those who were present spent an enjoyable time. The following contributed to the programme-.—Messrs. Coulson, M'Arthur, Mrs. Richardson, and Miss Enid Bennett. A duet was also given by Mrs. Richardson and Miss Bennett. '
LODGE MEETING;; ; The weekly'session of the Hope of Pβ- ; tone .-Eodge of Good Templars' was held in : the Eanfurly Hall on • Wednesday evening, when Bro. W. Denby presided ;over a good-attendance of members. One lady was admitted to the order, and one old member, was readmitted. : Bros. Adame, Verooe, and -Wilson,' from the Phoenix .Lodge, attended. ■ The item on the order, papor' was "Brothers' Surprise" and an excellent banquet was: provided. ■The sisters announced that;'the? intended commencing the winter, "socials" on Friday week. The lodge went into harmony. Next week-an election of officers will take place.
A meeting was held in lie Upper ■ :Hutt, Town Hall,oh'. Thursday evening ,when.Mr. E. Greenwood, ;a'candidate for the vacant" seat on'the Upper Hutt Town Board, addressed about 100 electors. The candidate, who was making his maiden speech, acqnitted himself very. well. Hβ dwelt upon matters calculated to enhance the welfare of the district, and at the conclusion of his address, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks on the motion of Mr. A. J M'Curdy. ' •■ ••■•
