LABOUR CONFERENCES.

SITTINGS IN WELLINGTON. There are at present assembled in Wellington delegates to three labour union conferences—the Drivers' and Carters' Union, the Painters' and Decorators' Union, and the ; Shearers' Union. Up till two , years ago, Easter conferences of representatives of labour were the usual : thing. Since then the dates of the general conferences have been altered to suit the parliamentary sessions, although odd unions here and there continue to assemble, at Easter for the "consideration of their special conditions and prospects. DRIVERS' AND CARTERS' UNION Federation was -the purpose of -the conference of delegates to the Drivers' and Qnrters' Union, which was attended by the following:—Wellington-: J. Sutherland, A. Parlane, W. J. Jones, D. Blackie. Dunedin: James Pine. Christchurch: T. Green and H. Hunter. Auckland: George Davis' and Charles Weaver. ■ ' - At ( a previous conference practical settlement was. .arrived at with rejrf to the constitution and-rules of. a New .Zealand Federation of drivers and carters, .and the present conference Ira's now given effect to these. The federation is an accomplished-fact; ; PAINTERS AND DECORATORS. Eleven of the twelve unions which look after the interests of the painters'. and decorators' employees in New Zealand, sent representatives to the Easter .Conference of'the union,, the delegates present being:— l Wellington: W.
