An application was'received from; the Rev. Father -Maples 'for a water: connection to the Catholic. ■ The.attention of.the council was drawn to the/presonce' of gorse '■■ and ragwort in'the catchment area: It was decided-to reply .that the matter.was under.consideration. • "■ ■ . :
CMr. D. Jones, clerk of the Tramway Board, .wrote-', asking permission .to use a room' at the' council .chambers for .a meeting-place; that the;clerk (in:'the. employ of. the council) be allowed to., act as secretary.oF the board; and'. that copies of. the joint ■: report be supplied. The requests- werei granted.' " : . : The District Road Engineer advised,'.in connection .witfr the Wilford-Estate drainage, that he should approve of the plans and inspect- the work: in the ' interests of .'lie Department, and that the Commissionerof. Crown .Lands would certify to .payment' on his certificate that a proportionate value of the.work had been;completed in accordance with plans and specifications. ' Regarding the. drainage: of the. Percy Estate, a. letter was received, from Messrs. Seatonand 'Sladden;. informing the .council'.that-'Mr'..'Percy considered it inadvisable to have the scheme altered ".to allow his"estate to be" included.
