PAHIATUA.

At the monthly meeting of the Borough Council,-. Mr. Thomas Boya's application for an auctioneer's license was granted. The Pahiatua Cricket Club's application to liavo the rental of the recreation grounds reduced to £2 per annum was refused. The treasurer reported the following balances:—General account, debit, £1835 Ms. Gd.; library, debit, £8 lis. 2d.;. interest, credit, £66 os. 'Id.; cemetery trustees, credit, £30 6s. Bd.; fixed deposit, credit, £GO. Accounts amounting to £230 16s. Gd. wore passed for payment. Owing to November 9 being a holiday, tho next monthly meeting will be held on November 16. At a sitting of the Court yesterday morning, before Messrs. D. Crewo and W. W. M'Cardlo, J.P.'s, judgment in tho following undefended cases was given:—Smith and Taylor v. D. M'Donald, £4, costs 135.; George 0. C. Oxley v. <L P. Findlay, £i 18s. Gd., costs 10s.
