On May 20, 1896, the memorial storib" of■ the present church was .laid, by the/.late .Mr: John li' Lean. The contract price, : with extras, had been £2500, and the ; . debt, at this date was £700. Some years'ba.ck. a branch Sunday School was opened Vat Roseneath, and Sunday services organised, aiid last year a new charge, the Evans Bay Church, had been formed in that and adjoining districts. A movement was now on foot VuT'erect a new Sunday School and Bible Glass'rooms, with lecture hall and other necessary buildings.
