HARRIERS.
.The final run .of tho present season of the Wellington Harriers' year was held on Saturday a.lternoon from tUe residence of Mr. W. 11. Bennett at' Woolcombo Street. Thirty members took part in the run, the trail for which was laid by C. Lamberg and C. S. Johnsoir, who wore the only hares caught by the pack during the season, hi view of the .coming teams' road race, a; go-as-you-please liuish lvas held over the last half mile, and resulted in W. J3. Bennett, W. Press, and J. Dalgleish gaining tho places. Members wore entertained at tea at the conclusion, of tho run by Mr. and Mrs. Bennett, and following this :t presentation of trophies and. a couple of hours iu musical harmony were held. The following is the list of prizcwinnerSj to whom the president handed over trophies Club champion, W. Press, who also took second prize in the president's handicap; C. Rowberry, first in sealed handicap and third ill president's handicap; F. Wilton; first and fastest time in president's handicap; C. Lamberg and L. Salek, first and second respectively in Trontham steepleohaso race (Mr. A. E. _ Whyto's trophies); P. A. Wilton, second in sealed handicap. Mr. C. D. Morpeth, who sixteen years ago won the Australasian livo-milo cross-coun-try championship iu time which has never sinco been equalled, wa,s present, and handed, over to J. F. Wilson his trophy for best aggregate for the season in attendances and runs-in. Wilson scored 43 points in this connection, and was hard pressed by the'runnerup, H. J. Pollock, who secured 40 points. Attendance badges wero gained by C. S. Johnson, P. A. Wilton, R. O'Flahcrty, F. Wilton, and C. Rowberry. oach of whom was present a.t each of the 21 rmis held throughout tho season. Mr. Stuart Robinson, lion, club secretary, in announcing the closing of the season, pointed out to members that they had still something to train for in the four-mile cross-country handicap of tho Wellington A.A.C. in October. Items wero contributed to a musical programme by the. Missos Bennett and Mr. W. H. Bennett, and Messrs. Donaldson, Smith, Lamberg, Turner, and Salek, Mr. A. S. Hilliker presiding at the piano. At the call of the club captain, hearty cheers wero given by members for tho hospitality of the host and hostess, and a most successful season was brought to a close. Tho average attendance this year at club runs has boon twontyfivo, despite tho fact that no postponements have occurred through bad weather, all runs being held whether wet or fine.
