WANCANUI TRAINING NOTES. (BY TELECUAPn—rur.SS ASSOCIATION.) Wanganul, September 19. Sovoral visiting horses have arrived in view of the Wnuganui meeting next week, but nothing of any. consequence has been dono on the track yet. Goldeil Gate, Wimmera, and Lamsdorff each did useful Work separately. This morning Marshall had all tile best of a five-furlongs sprint with Gordon Park. Research galloped tile samo distance by himself most attractively. A number of others did from half to three-quarter pace work. NOTES AND COMMENTS. tfir Glencoe.l Tho Avondalo Jockey Club's meeting will be continued on Wednesday, when tho Avondale. Guineas will bo decided. The Wanganui Guineas will be run on Thursday. Sir George Clifford's three-yea.r-olds, Inchbonny and Husbandman, -which passodl through to Wanganui 011 Saturday, will return home after the first day's racing at Wanganui. Inchbonny is a full sister to Clanchattaii. She will race for tho first time in tho Maiden Hack at the .Wanganui meeting.

At the Waikanao Stud, Moresque (Stcpniak—Moreze) has foaled a colt to Conqueror or Achilles. Ilautapu, winner of the First Hurdles at the Avondale meeting, has now won a dozen races over the-jumps in addition to-several victories on tho flat. In my/notes of Saturday morning I stated that four of- Sir George Clifford's mares were among tho number booked to Kilcheran this season. This, it appears, .was not correct. Tile entries for tho Epsom Derby and Oaks of 1910 include a largo number of horses bred in America. Tho lightweight jockey, F. Douglas, was. m form at tho! Ashburton County Racing Club's meeting last week. He rodo two winners on tho first day and three on tho second day. Other jockeys to win at tho meoting wero W. lletter, G. A. Pine, Jas. Pino, R. Derrett, H. Donovan, C. Monck, and F. E. Jones. Probable is top-weight in tho Geraldine Cup with 9st. 41b. Tho Soult gelding, Manapouri, which won. tho Plunket Handicap at the Avondale meeting on Saturday, usually races among tho ponies. Last season ho won seven times out of sixteen starts. Tho starters at the Avondale meeting on Saturday included Naumai, W,iilctho, ..Russley Maid, and Sharkeyne, but nono of the quartet succeeded in payiug a dividend. _ Local followers of the game wero greatly disappointed with the running of-Naumai, as ho was considered tho best of good things for the Henderson Handicap. - Considering tho excellent form ho has shown in the hack division, with the welter Weights -ho Has- been carrying, it is difficult'to account for his defeat, especially as the Avondale Stakes was run in .faster time than tho Henderson Handicap. - With list, ,131b. iii tho saddle at_ the Levin meeting, lie put up a very ctcditable performance in the ; heavy going,, and-was only beaten by Tumut a few yards off the post. On tho- strength of that and other performances, it w"as reckoned that tho 9st. 31b. allotted him at.Avondalo would allow him to run the half-milo in 50secs., but he could only run third to Foremost, who took 50 3-5 sees, to cover the journey . /According to tho telegraphed'entries for tho Juvenile • Plato at lliccarton, Tawhald is a chestnut colt by St., Ambrose—Seashell, while a telegram from Napier gives tho samo name to a -two-year-old by-. Menschikoff— Armula. Unless I am mistaken Tawhaki ia not tho namo of cither of the two colts in question, but belongs correctly to a hurdle horso in the Porirua stable. The sixty horses entered for the Stewards' Handicap comprise an -excellent lot of proved sprinters, and a number of promising three-year-olds. .With Gold Crest, Grenadier, Lord Soult, Lupulite, Dusky Morn, BobrikofF, Penates and several other good winners entered, thero is promiso of an excellent race._ Diabolo, Gravitation, California and Aborigine' aro notable absentees from the list.
