THE BUSY BEE.
Mr. Hopkins, the Government apiarist, has been at Waerenga experimental farm lately rearing Italian queen bees for the ensuing honey season (telegraphs our Auckland correspondent). In addition to some colonies of bees that were there already, thero are now 32 in existence, and as soon as the season is sufficiently advanced, and the colonies are in the proper condition for raising queens, the whole strength of-the apiary will be devoted to this work. The object of tho Department is to enable beekeepers throughout the, Dominion to obtain the "best breeding stock" possiblo. A.price-list will soon be available. During the forthcoming sliow season the Government apiarist intends giving demonstrations at the principal shows throughout New Zealand of .transferring bees from common boxes to frame hives. It is now illegal to keep bees in box hives.
