NEW DAIRY REGULATIONS.
It is very evident (writes our AVairarapa correspondent) that the new dairy regulations will be vigorously opposed by nearly all sections of tlie fanning communities interested if the Government demands that they should be put into operation immediately following the passing of' the proposed Act. Nobody goes so far as to say that the regulations are not needed, but farmers urgo that their consummation should extend over a number of years. The main objection to the immediate operation of the Aet is tho expense which would bo caused by the removal of buildings and tho construction' of the concrete works. There are thousands of dairy farmers in the Dominion who cannot spare the money at present for these new works, and it seems hardly possible that the Government will attempt to put the Act rigidly into immediate operation. ' It is very plain that if the State did enter upon such an injudicious course, the outcry would bo so great that tho enforcement of the Act would speedily become difficult.
