A powerful English eleven, selected by, the Earl of Londesborongh, tried conclusions ■with the Marylebono Club's team that toured Australia under the captainoy of A. 0. Jones. Lord Londesborongh's eleven declared their innings closed when the score stood at 408, to which total Ranjitsinhji had contributed 101 and Bosanquet 82. . The Marylebone Club's eleven made 238 in the first innings, and lost four wickets for 106 in the second innings. Tho mateh was drawnIt was understood at the time of the Australian totii of Mr. A. O. Jones's team that it would be matched, in the season following its'return, against another English team. The result, though indecisive, is, unfavourable to Mr. Jones's-team, which left "the ashes" in Australia.
