NEWTOWN CRICKET CLUB.

The seventh annual mating of tho Newtown Cricket Club was held at St. Thomas's Hall, Newtown, last ovening, Mr. J. Danks, one of tho vice-presidents of the club, prosiding. Tho committee, in its annual report, congratulated members on tho general improvement which had taken place during tho past year. Inferior fielding was held to be accountable for tho failure of tho senior team to win any of its matches,-aud greater attention to this important branch of tho game was urged. Tho performances of tho second and tliird oloveiis wore very satisfactory, and tho excellent attendance of the third-class team at practice was favourably commented on. Tho matches- against Johnsonvillo and Karori wcro enjoyablo events, despito the fact that no victories went to tho credit of the club. _ Cricket of a high order was experienced during tho Nelson tour. Tho committee congratulated A. Tilyard on his batting performances and his attainment of representative honour; A. Smith (batting), C. Castlo (bowling, second eleven), G. Eiggs (bowling trophy, third eleven), and P. K. Kolling (tatting). Tho debit balance of £44 15s. 7d. had sinco tho beginning of tho year, beon reduced to £13 4s. lOd.

Alpo, practico captain, Mr. P. H. Smith';, delegates to the Wellington Cricket Association, Messrs. P. H. Smith, P. Alpe, and A. Day; secretary, Mr. A. Day; assistant Boorotary, Mr. G. Bowen; treasurer, Mr. A. G. Miller; auditor, Mr, J. Boston.
