"GRAMMAR, HISTORY, AND GEOGRAPHY." TO BE DISCUSSED BY THE EDUCATION -BOARD. Tho Wellington Education Board, at its mooting yesterday, had before it certain resolutions' which had recently been passed by the North Canterbury Education Board regarding the primary school syllabus. Tho resolutions, which explain themselves, are as follow:—' l..That this board considers that the primary school syllabus is wahting in connection with the scope and treatment of formal' English grammar and history, and that tho Education Department be requested to provide for a fuller treatment of these subjects in the syllabus, even at the expense of less important subjects, which receivo more than their educative value warrants. 2. Further, that though geography takes up so much of the syllabus, yet it is treated in such a way as to leavo tho human sido of the subject to a large degree untouched. 3. That the other boards of education be requested to co-operate in this representation to the Department. .Attached to the above was a copy of a comprehensive press report of the discussion out of which the resolutions eventuated. Captain T. AV. M'Donald said ho would prefer to take time to consider tho matter, which was of considerable importanco. Ho moved that copies of tho resolutions bo circulated among members, and also referred to tho Teachers' Institute, and tho board's inspectors for thoir views, thereon. The wliolo question could then bo gono into. Tho motion was carried.'
