Mr. George Seifcrt has for tho present laid aside Messrs. Suttio Bros.' patent flaxdressing machine, but is likely to give it another run at somo' future dato. A party of tho local Druids drove over to Foxton last week on the occasion of tho opening of a new lodge in that town. Grand Secretary Grant attended, and brethren caino from Palmerston North, Otaki, Levin, and other coast towns for tho ceremony. There was an enthusiastic meeting of local cricketors in tho Club Hotel on Friday night. Mr. W. H. Field, M.P., was elected patron, and Mr. S. W. Carter was appointed president of the club. Tho following officebearers ware elected:—Captain, Mr. Judd; vice-captain, Mr. W. Tremewan; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. Rawle. It was decided to affiliate with either tho Levin or tho Foxton League, the majority of those present evidently favouring tho latter.
