lent day's sport in tlio oil-launch Ripplo, reoontly purchased. The boat responded splendidly, and to add interest to the occasion a very largo catch of schnapper was made. Tho Horowhenua Junion-Foxtou match, which was to havo taken placo at Foxton on Saturday, was badly bungled. Tlio local players journeyed by train to Levin, only to be told the match was off. They are laying claims for expenses, and the Foxton Union aro in no amiable framo of mind, having gono to considerable expense in catering for tho enjoyment of tho expected visitors. Fred Carmont who has been suffering from appendicitis is making splendid progress 'toward recovery.
Trial hockey matches, ladies' and men's, will take placo horo on Wednesday, when teams will bo picked to play at tho Wellington tournament, and to play Wanganui, Wellington, and Palmerston.
