EKETAHUNA.

Some while back the Eketahuna County Council's by-laws wero tested in a Court of law ; and found wanting. This necessitated their revision, and in the proposed alterations tho Council has suggested that, tho width of tires on vehicles with springs should be .increased. This has brought a protest from storekeepers and carters, and at a mooting held oh Saturday, at which twenty were present, it was decided that, instead of tho Council embodying tho proposed alteration of tires in the by-laws, it should evolve a scalo of charges proportionate to the weight carried on vehicles. Mr. G. H. Ralph. who leaves this week to take charge of tho Seamen's Mission at Auckland, was on Friday evening presented with a chequo and entertained at a social by tho adherents of tho Presbyterian Church.

Tho death occurred last week of Miss. J, Morriss, of Haunui.
