FEILDING.
A painful and distressing accident took place in Queen Street on Wednesday, when Mr. Gil Heald, son of Mr. R. Heald, had a severe injury inflicted to his eye. Mr Heald was driving a four-inch nail into a joist, when tho nail rebounded and struck him in the eye. It is impossiblo to say yoti how serious tho result of tho accident may, be, but tho'hope is expressed that Mr. Heald may not' havo his sight_ permanently affected; The annual meeting" of the Foilding Athletic: Club was held last night in the Library' room. Tho annual report stated that facing a debit balanco and waning interest, inathletic sports by the public and competitors, it was . considered advisable to reduce tho prize money for last year's sports by about £50. There was a balance available of £35 2s. 5d.,..the, year's operations having resulted in>a profit of £33 3s. ' lOd. Officers were elected as follow: —President, Mr: F., Y. Lothbridge, M.P.
