Harden, solicitor, was before tho Court yesterday charged with tho theft of £260, the property of Margaret Martha Hancock, and was remanded to appear on August 21. Bail was fixed at £200, and two sureties of £100. ; An elderly man named John Spencer was charged at the Police Court yesterday mornring with failure to keep up the payments for the maintenance of his child, an inmate of an industrial school. He was remanded till Saturday to bo dealt with by the Stipendiary Magistrate. Local .Chinese gardeners are reaping a good harvest out of Wellington at present bv forwarding large consignments of vegetables.
