MISSIONS TO SEAMEN.
Tho Missions to Seamen Institute was crowded last night when a delightful concert was provided by the Victoria College Gloo Club. rho Missionor, Mr. James juoorc, f occupicd the chair, and during a short interval addressed tlio audience on the temperance question, taking the words I'l'iciid or Foo: which?" Fourteen men subsequently took the pledge. Several very popular choruses were sung by the sailors prosent. vocal and olocutionarv it-cms wero contributed to the programme by tho followII 1 ?. : oil, Dr. Isaacs, Messrs. Lyon, lidie, Iteid, Smith, Hutolioson. Several quartets were sung and the Glco party rendered sevoral excellent items. A conundrum competition was won by sailors from ships in port. Hearty cheers wero given to tho performers, who responded' by giving a Maori haka.
