OPENING OF. THE NEW ROOM.

A social was held last , night by the .Y.W.O.A. to celebrate the opening of the Association's new room on Lambton Quay. The room is a very large, fino one of a sociable shapo, and- wit<h accommodation for over a hundred people. The. walls are already hung with . pictures. that : liave been ' presented by friends,, the room is partially furnished, and one end has been curtained off to serve as kitchen.': The windows look across Lambton Quay, and altogether, it is a very pleasant room either for lunching in or for spending a. busy or social evening. Last night Mrs. 'M'Clay, vice-president,' in the' absence of Miss Mac Lean, the president began the' ortning's programme with a little speech of welcome to the girls and.of grati-' tude- to' the friends' who had prepafpd the room for them.
