SOCIAL AND PERSONAL.
On Friday aftornoon a reception was held in the, Exchange Hall in Masterton by Sirs. Tai Te Tail in honour of tho i visit of-the Rev. A. F. Bennett and tho Rot'orua Maoris. Very mauy guests, both European and Maori, wero present, as well as all the Masterton clergy. .Speeches, music, and tea helped to entertain everyone, and a most enjoyablo time was spent.
• Mr. and Mrs. D. Cameron havo returned to their homo after having had. a most pleasant trip to the Pacific; Islands! ,
Miss Pearson 'is .leaving Mastortoii on Thursday for'Dunedin.
On Thursday evening a children's fancy dress ball was given in the Exchange • Hall in Masterton by Mrs. W.- H. Hosking. It was really a farewell to the two little daughters of Mr.-and Mrs. A. Hosking, who with their'father and'mother are leaving very shortly, for Queensland. What with the decorations of the' roonv and tho pretty- fanciful costumes of the children,' a more charming sight could seldom be seen. The-enjoy-ment of the children was'complete.
