Tho Now Zealand -Loan and Mercantile Agoncy Co., Ltd., report as follows on their salo yesterday:—There was a food attendanco at our sale to-day, when wo offered a large catalogue of skins and hides and a small lot of wool aud tallow. Prices were about a farthins higher for wool and skina, and a good demand was experienced for hides and tallow at late rates. We quote:— Wool.—Good bright crutcliings, 3Jd. to 4Jd. per lb.; medium crutchings, 2jd. to 3d.; seedy and inferior crutcliings, 2Jd. to 2Jd.; crossbred fleece in bags, 3Jd. to 5d.; dead, 4d. to 4Jd.; lambs, inforior, id. to 4}d. Sheepskins.—Crossbred, 3J-d.' to 4Jd.lambs, medium, 3}d. to i{d.; pelts, sound, 2id._ to 3Jd.; damaged skins, Id. to 3Jd.; green skins, to 3s. 9d. each; salted pelts, bare, to Is. sd. oach. Dalgety and Company, Limited, Wellington, roport having received the following cable messages from thoir London House undor date of July !0:— ... Butter.—Tho Copenhagen official quotation is unchanged. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for week ending July 25 amounted to 100,000cwt., as compared with 99.000 for the corresponding week of 1907, showing an incnt-aso of lOOOcwt. The market for Danish, butter is weak, and the utmost value is 120s. per cwt. Prices for New Zealand butter are -unchanged, and we quote from 114s. to HGs. There is no Australian butter on the market. Owing to heavy arrivals from the Continent and Siberia the market, is lower by 2s. to 4s. per cwt. Wo oxpect a further decline in prices, believe that tho present state of things will not last, and that recovory is probable in a few weeks. Frozen Meat.— I Thero is a fair demand for lamb. Demand for mutton runs principally on finest qualities. The market for beef is firm, but there is not much demand. Our quotations for New Zealand descriptions are:— Prime crossbred mutton, Canterbury heavy, SJd.; licht, 4£d. Prime crossbred mutton, North Island, heavy, 3d.; light, 3jd. Prime crossbred lamb, Canterbury, heavy, ofd.; light, 55d. Prime crossbred lamb, North Island, heavy, sjd-i lieht, Sid. Prime os beof, fores, Sid.; hinds, 35d. The hot woithor prevailing is limiting business. Sheop Skins—Combing merino: Since our Inst advices prices aro higher by Jd. per lb. Tho amount of flour coming in from Australia does not show any diminishing quantity. Advice from Auckland i is to the offect that two Craig boats are bringing over for that port 3300 tons, of which 2600 tons aro from Melbourne, and 700 tons from Adelaido, whilo the Maheno, on her last trip from Melbourne, carried 117 tons. Tho Auckland cargoes may bo in fulfilment of contracts. No business is reported in wheat, and at present priccs the South can do all the outsido business in oats, and it is reported that a Duncdin miller has had ft parcel of a grade landed from Bluff at 2s. 2Jd. s&oks extra. Chaff keens steady in pi'ico, but with only a moderate demand. The potato market has declined again on account of 9000 sacks having been landed at Auckland this week from tho Bluff, Oamaru, and Timaru, and 1000 sacks are going forward from Lyttolton. Buyers aro now offering only £3 10s. to £3 15s. The siring demand for. seed is setting in, and tho fine weather of the past , .week has improved the inquiry,
