; . London, July 3. , Harry Vardon's houso at Totteridge was entered by a burglar, and all his golf trophies and medals were stoleu.
' Totteridge ' is' the home' of the South Herts Golf Club, and is within easy golfers' _reach' ; from London: Harry Vardon, if just a' little past his very'. best' days (which is doubtful); has been for"the'past ten years at the vary ton of tho tree in- tho golfing world, and is 'still orio of tlioso threo famous golfers who aTe> termed 'the triumvirate of ' the game, the other two being Braid and Taylor. Vardon has won the Upen Professional Utiampi'onship on four occasions, viz., in 1808, ISD3, 1899, and 1903. He also won the American Cham-- • pionship in 1900, and,, besides other competitions, is the winner of no fewer than ..sixty iopen tournaments. As a sprinter, too, in earlier dnys he won many prizes. If tlio burglar, r therefore, has been successful in securing all the gold and silver represented by these numerous successes, ho has niado a valuable haul.
