Tho Canadian Deputy-Minister for Labour, the Hon. W. L. Mackenzie King, has awarded to tho Chinese' sufferers by the riots in Vancouver last September the sum of £5198 as damages and legal expenses. The liberality of the award, which exceeds the claims, has deeply impressed the Chinese, and will, it is believed, help to develop trade between Canada and China.
