OTAKI.
At the Police Court yesterday beforo Messrs. Freeman and Bennett, J.P.'s, ono offender, for drunkenness, was convicted and discharged, and prohibition orders were issued against Prank and George Coates. For using obscene language Alf. Cook was fined 10s., and costs 265. At Manakau yesterday tho Otaki and Hui Mai ladies played for the hockey championship, the game ending in a draw,. one goal each. ' Tho Otaki men wero defeated by Manakau by 2 goals to nil. The cricketers' social,' held here on Wednesday night, was well attended, and an enjoyable time 'spent. The hall was decorated for the occasion with bunting and nikau fronds, tod tho stage converted into a draw-ing-room. Many visitors were present from Paraparaumu, Waikanae, and To Horo. Mr. M'Meekau was secretary of the function. During the. evening tho shield won by the Paraparaumu Club was presented by Mr. H. Hall. /
