NEED FOR BETTER ORGANISATION; In a letter to an Auckland friend,, Mr. John I Holmes, formerly New Zealand Trade Commissioner, writing finds the Wellington and Blenheim fibre preferred in Melbourne t° that of Auckland, becauso the freight from Auckland to Melbourne is excessive Shipments cr.n be made from tho Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington at 30s. per ton gainst 455. per ton from Auckland. . The dift'erence is due to transhipping, but Mr. Holmes considers it unfair to handicap Auckland exporters becauso tho shipping companies iun. a service which necessitates transhipment. Ho says thoro is need of further exploitation of new markets by competent commercial men in viow of tho competition from Manila, Sisal, and Kentucky" hemp.' r~' ; r
