Mr. W. Lowrie, Director of the-' Canterbury ' Agricultural College,\lias (says' the . Christchurch "Press") during the last few years imported several varieties. of French wheats. One of these, known as Bordior, which. hasjbeen tried at; the College farm* for, ■some )fou'r ' or 'fivo years' has' 'given bonsistently ■ heavy;, yields of good milling grain, and so far it' promises to become a ..valuable, addition to - tho ' limited choice, of varieties • our' farmers have. Among oats, one of the -most ■ successful varieties'• introduced of late years- is the: Garton, which, in Canterbury, has largely taken the place of Canadians and sparrowbills as an all-round grain 1 for . milling or feed and > a heavy and l certain yielder; but a now importation of the. seed of this variety would be beneficial, as .there is a tendency for it to run Out.
