DEBATING UNION.

The annual meeting of the delegates to tho Debating Union, was held in tho Y.M.C.A.' ltooms last; evening. The vicepresident,, Mr. A. H. „Casey, took the chair. The annual report:,and balance-sheet were read and adopted. A motion, giving tho Union parliament control of its own financial position, was'carried,"while one, restricting the membership of that body to mombcrs of .affiliated, societies,/was lost. The officers elected for tho year are:— Patron, Sir Robert Stout; president, Hon. T. V/. Hislop; yice r prosi<lent, Mr. /A. H. Casey; general secretary, Mr. A. C. Brethorton; treasurer, Mr. E. P. O'Donnell; committee,'Messrs.'J. M.'A. Ilott, A. E. Budd, and H. N. Holmes. The parliament met last night in tho Y.M.CiA. Rooms,. 'and was addressed by the who expressed satisfaction; that, the., difficulty .in securing 'accommodation, last year, had been removed. Mr. A. C.
