Tho chairman (Mr. Murphy) explained that thero was a plot of land in connection with the school where boys could learn Boniething about plants and • tho rudiments' of agriculture.' The,school was doing excellent work. ' Mr. C. P. Hiigonin said it was extraordinary that tlie technical education of town children should have to be paid for by tho agricultural and pastoral industries; There was every inducement for boys to go to tho country to learn farming, and they would get more practical knowledge there among farmers than at a technical school. The Chairman replied. that the Technical College instruction was for young ;boys. • Mr! ,C. H!'Elisor, said it was a very useful thing-to' train town' : b'oys for country work. Throughout the present Conciliation Board proceedings the tolvn hoy liad been held up 'as, useless, and any step that,"taught him something of country,, life was a good ona. ;
