FEATHERSTON.
A hors6 attached, to a gig belonging to Mr. W. Wakely, 'of South Feathcrston, bolted in Wallace Street on Monday afternoon. Mrs. Wakely, who was driving, noticed that the bit 1 was out of the animal's mouth, and took the blinkers off to adjust it. No sooner had slio done this tha'V the animal bolted, and in turning a comer collided with a telephone pole, upsetting the vehicle, and throwing ' out the children. Luckily tho youngsters were thrown clear, and an ; examination made by Dr. Palmer found that no bones were broken. Last week's' consignment of sheep tho Featherston railway station was 12,276, which'is the largest so far this season; Mr. Rowo,- of' the Featherston 'Telegraph Department,- is at' present on holiday leavo '.of three weeks. Mr; To'wnsend is relieving officer.
