The' engines wero immediately reversed, aud a lookout sent aloft to. ascertain the whereabouts of tho man, and a boat was launched. Tho boat's crew rowed' to .v.'hero the man had been 3cen, and kept moving backwards and fonvards~till 2.40. Tho steamer was also kept, moving iu a .circ.lo until 2.40, when tho boat was-picked up and tho vessel proceeded. In order to make a horso buck ho pulled tho reins, when the horso played up and struck him 011 tho head and back.
