SOCIAL AND PERSONAL.

Santa Clans is kept very busy just now, so busy that one almost fears-he, will be too sound asleep to wako up., when it is time for him to start on his big round with the reindeers. Yesterday afternoon, at Tory Street Mission Hall, tho mothers belonging to the Mothers' Meeting had a social gathering, and the money banked with.tho mission during tho year was distributed with the addition of 10 per cent: interest. Over £52 was distributed in this way, but this does not represent tile amount banked during the year, as already a good deal has been withdrawn on account of sickness. Prizes and presents, were then presented by , Mrs M'Kibbin, the prizes being |for attendance at the meetings of the year. Two of the mothers had been present at the wholo of the forty-live meetings held, and- many others showed a' very high record. Some of the most regular, attendants came from great distances. Thero is no doubt that tlioso meetings are much'enjoyed , 'by the members. Miss Dorothy Barbara Lethbridge,. youngest daughter of Mr. Frank Lethbridge, M.P., was married in the. Feilding Presbyterian Church yesterday afternoon to Mr. .Russell Taylor, of the Feilding district. The air was heavy with the smell of pine needles and hot tea, and filled with the sound of childish laughter and. piercing shricky things. Children were everywhere. One. tiny child toddled to a swing door and placed himself in such an attitude.that decapitation appeared inevitable; another lay full longth on the floor regardless of the people .passing'.backwards and forwards, beside him, so absorbed was he in the charms of a toy engine which, could bo best, observed from that prostrate position. Ho! jras-evi-dently qualifying to drive a .motorcar,-and will probably display the same calnvinsome crowded .thoroughfare wllen, years later,, ho crawls under his disabled car. A third-child alternately., hold out a box full of. treasures to tho admiring gaze-of a stranger, '.■ and hugged ,it. close to .her plump, -little:.,body lest the stranger should desire to\ deprive her .of the'treasure. Each child had some delightful toy,' and each child apparently was in tho seventh heaven, for the,,nurses of St. John's. Ambulance . District Nursing Association, not content with caring for their patients all the year round, were entertaining them yesterday afternoon .at St. John's Schoolroom, giving them a tea,. and providing them with presents from a fine largo Christmasj tree. Their patients and ox-patients, both adults and children wcro thore, as many as could come,- and several who otherwise would have had to stay at home were .driven to the schoolroom. Little Miss Betty Hislop assisted her grandmother in distributing the gifts, and she seemed .to enjoy the wholo performance as much as any of the others. The children's presents wore on-tho tree; for the mothers.the nurses had, in their leisure moments, made clothes' and-other useful- things, and each one received a largo parcel. ■ . ' / Miss May.Ellison, eldest daughter .of Inspector, lillison, was married -yesterday, .afternoon at .St'.. Paul's Pro-Cathedral.,to. Mr. C. a W. Nielsen, solicitor,.of- 'Wellington; '.son of Mr. O.
