SOUTH WELLINGTON SCHOOL BAZAAR.

Of bazaars this summer there has been an endless number, but in spite of that, and tho frequent calls upon ovea-yone's financial resources just now, they seem to reap, if not a golden harvest, at least a very satisfactory one. The salo of work opened oil Wednesday afternoon by Mr. Barber, M.P., in the South Wellington School for the purpose of raising, funds-for the school museum and library and the obtaining of, a miniature rifle range for the boys, presented some rather interesting features. The decorations .were in green and gold; the school colours, and the designs of the stalls charmingly effective. The stall-holders were: — Plain and fancy work, Mrs. Vanghan; flower and produce stall, Mrs. Hills and Miss. Baird; lolly stall, Missos Petrie, and Goll; Christmas tree, Miss Watson; bran tub, Miss Sargent; doll stall, Mrs. Hawley and Miss Haigh; refreshment stall, Mrs. Whitolaw; cool drinks, Miss Davies; advertisement stall, Miss Scott.. A special feature about the lolly stall was that the infant children had decorated little boxes of all sorts arid sizes with diffcrcntlj>colourcd crinkled p'aper, most cleverly and artistically worked, and had also made little woven wicker baskets, to hold tho sweets. . The doll stall was the magnet of all the little girls in the room. It was arranged .to carry put the old nursery rhyme of ' 'The Old .Woman who Lived in a Shoe," and did a very good business. Both Wednesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings the children give performances of different kinds of drill, and choruses.
