DRAINAGE AND WATER-SUPPLY FOR KELBURNE.

MEETING OF..RESIDENTS. A meeting of residents interested in the-re-; ticulation, tor purposes-of drainago and wat<>r supply, of that portion of tho liolburne district, which, by Gazotte, had been incorporated with tho City of Wellington as from October 1, was hold in Mr. J. I'.. Campbell's house last night. Mr. Campbell'presided, and, by way of preface, traversed the various stops taken by the committee appointed to conduct tho negotiations which, led subsequently to the inclusion of .this .particular area within the city limits. The chairman eulogised the work done by Mr. H. D. Atkinson, who had devoted considerable time and energy to tho furtherance of the movement. Continuing, ho said that the question now beforo them was the vital ono of water supply and drainago. A petition had boon drawn up for presentation to the City Council and had , beon signed by a large number of residents. ■He wished to know the mind of the meeting. Mr. Grocott moved: "That this meeting heartily endorses the action of tho committee and that tho petition presented to tho meeting be approved and signed by thoso p'resont." Mr. 'Thomson seconded, the motion, which was carried unanimously. It was decided that tho.petition bo presonted by a deputation consisting of, tho committeo and Messrs. Duncan, Moore, M'Kellar, and Bur-r.-3tt. A vote of thanks to tho committeo closed tho meoting. •.'■'■
