PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Petone Borough Council met last night, the Mayor (Mr. .'.. W. M'Ewan) > presiding. Councillors ■ Cok'S, -Vichclrxm,. Harding, ■ Sm;i:n, Southgatc, Loddcr, Castle, "and Colqnhoun, wore also present. . . ■ , ; Dr. Hector reported a case of diphtheria in the district. . ' . ' '
A deputation from the Cit.ir.en's Band waited on the Council regarding the lighting' of the bund rotunda. If ' the > Council 'would grant -the lighting, the -band would-bo able to give concerts i'n ; the evening, and do n service" to the people. The deputation also asked I lie Council for a fence around the rotunda. -

It was decided .that ..the Mayor should act as delegate. . . The Hutt River. Board advised the. Council that they wore unable to sanction any scheme, of'drainage discharging into the western arm, of the Hutt River. ~ . " .
