Otago Land Board.

The following business of local interest was transacted at the meeting of the Board on Thursday and Friday last:— A request by David Mackie for a reconsideration of his application for an occupation lease under " The Mining Districts Land Occupation Act, 1894," over part of sections 6 and 7, block 11, Kawarau district, was considered. Wesley Turton and Son, on behalf of John Chalmers, obfected to the application, and there was a petition from miners and residents at Waitiri against the granting of the application. Ranger Mackenzie forwarded a report. —The Board decided to adhere to previous decision declining to grant the application. The Board considered the question as to the disposal of Runs No. 95 and 430 a, Hunter Valley, at the expiry of the licenses in 1907.—Decided to

offer a three years' license tj XLutitas Tuohy at the former rental. Ranger McDougall forwarded an application from Caleb Pipson for a license to cut 200 posts and 12 strainers on the south-east of sections 23868 and 23869, Makarora Valley. License granted at Royalty rates. John Halliday applied for an occupation-with-right-of-purchase license over section 12, block IV., Lower Wanaka district. —Applica t to be informed that the section cannot be disposed of without compi titiou under 20s per acre. If pastoral licensee consents land could be open for selection at 12s 6d per acre. Isaac Hurring applied for a license to cut flax on all Crown lands at Martin's Bay.—Sketch to be supplied by applicant. Isaac Hurring applied for a sawmill license over 1000 acres at Mai-tin's Bay.—Sketch to be supplied by applicant. Application for lease to transfer L.I.P. 1051, section 7, block VI., Tarras district, Robert Davidson to Flora M'Loughlin (Brodrick and Chalmer, agents.)— Granted. The Chief Surveyor forwarded plan of survey of the following sections in the town of Cromwell:—Sections 2, block LXXXIX, valuation for improvements, £5 ; 3,« same block, valuation ,£103; 1, block XC, valuation £195 ; 2, same block, valuation £144; 3, same block, valuation £305; 1, block XCI, valuation, £6; 2, same block (fire brigade station and band shed) ; 3, same block, valuation £195 16s 3d ; 4, same block, valuation £2 8 3s 9d ; 5, same block, valuation £220; 6, same block, valuation £2lO 10s ; 7, same block, valuation £l. —Cromwell Borough Council to be supplied with a copy ©f the plan and requested to take the necessary steps to close the portions of the streets affected. An application by Thomas Butler to purchase an area of about 30 acres on Run No 354, block I, Kawarau district, was considered. The warden forwarded a report, and Wesley Turton and Son forwarded consent of pastoral license. Granted, subject to consent of the Governor and the payment of survey fees, in addition to capital value of the land, 12s 6d per acre. J. 13. Waddle applied to surrender his lease-in-perpetuity over section 20, XIV, Lower Wanaka district, as he is leaving the district. Surrender accepted on payment of half year's rent due. Ranger Mackenzie forwarded a report on the application by Samuel Simmonds for a sawmill license over 200 acres and to have three additional areas of' 200 acresr eserved in Martin's Bay district It was decided to grant the application suljeetto the applicant furnishing a survey when the valuation Avould be made by an appraiser, and subject to payment of royalty required in accordance with the regulations.
