PEOH OUB OWN COBMBFONDBNT. To-morrow (Christmas Day) the Owaka senior cricket team will play a friendly match with the rest of the elii'b and all-cOmers, coimmenoing at 10 aim., with two hours for lunch. In the absence of several senior players the combined foTces . should give the first eleven a good game-' At a meeting of the A. and 'P. Society Wie instructed to write thanking the winners of prizes who had donated 'their funds to the society. A special general meeting, of the society will ibe held in January to consider the proposal 'to purchase suitable permanent grounds for future shows. The society is in a sound financial position at present, and it is felt this step would be in the right direction.
Arrangements are well forward for the 'Caledonian, sports to be held in Owaka on Boxing Day, Monday, 27th inst. Nine entries have 'been received for the 18in chop and seven for the maiden chop. There are entries from the South Island, West 'Coast and Catlins dis'triclts. The tender of Mr Field Reid has been accepted for the supply of afternoon te'a and supper at tihe dance in, 'the evening. The services of the Balelutha-' Band have been secured for the day. lA most successful meeting is anticipated, as entries and inquiries for programmes are'being received from all parts of Otago and Southland.' Officials and judges as follows have been appointed:—Piping and dancing, Mr G. Mwrro (Dunediu); running, Messrs A. North, W. iH. Craigie, W. E. Wright and John Logan; chopping and sawing, Messrs T. Maginness, M. Jaekman, C. Latta, W. McLaclilan and J. D. iMdLennan; tossing the sheaf, Messrs J. FoTd, G-. Johnstone, G. FraseT and W. Friend; putting the shoit, Messrs J. Duley, J. Telf er, D. McBrat'ney and OR. Berney; marksmen, Messrs A. Mason, 'G. Eraser and '%. Esler; starter, Mr H. Latta; timekeeper, Mr J. Cunninghaim; handicaippers—runnin'g, Messrs M. liatta, F. Parker and A. M. Wylie; chopping and sawing, Messrs C. Latta, A. Mason, P. Laugh ton and M. Jack-man; putting the shot, Messrs J. Ford and J. Topping; steward in charge piping and dancing, Mr T.
