KAKAPUAKA SCHOOL.
The break-up of the Kakapuaka School took place on Wednesday evening, when there was a capital attendance of parents and friends, and everything passed off most successfully. The school was* nicely' decorated, and spoke of a good deal of 'work on tho part of the teacher and scholars. Mr Uren (chairman) presided, and in introducing tho programme of music and recitations and drill of tho pupils referred in complimentary terms to the popularity and success of their teacher, Miss Currie.

Tweed; recitation, "King" Bruce and the Spider," E. Uren, M. Chirnside, A. Spark, L. Tw#d; song, "The Band," the school; recitation, "The Four Bogs," A. Chirnside, M. Tweed, M. Spark, R. King; rounds, the school; recitation, E. Milne, C. Milne, L. Hair, ft. Uren; song, "Killaruey.'' A. Chirnside, M. Spark, Tt. King, M. Tweed; "recitation, "The Inspector," H. Hair, j and an encore, "The Piece Robert) Spoke"; song, "Hearts of Oak," the j school. j The 'Rev. S. W. Currie distributed the prizes and in doing so complimented the children on their drill and on the , excellence of the programme. The • secretary (Mr Spark) moved a vote of thanks to the teacher for the interest she had taken in the school, and for her good work; to the teacher and scholars for their tasteful decoration of the school; to 'Miss Cross for judging the sewing; and to Mrs Shearing for several of the special prizes. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem. Supper, provided in abundance toy the ladies, -was- handed round and greatly enjoyed, after which the floor was cleared and an hour or two given over to a very pleasant little dance, Mr B. Cross supplying the music.
