Town Hall alterations
The Christchurch City Council last evening confirmed a special order to raise a loan of $1.85 million for alterations to the Christchurch Town Hall. The proposal for new office, entrance lobbies, reception and coffee bar was discussed by the council in closed meeting. The recommendation before it,
from its cultural and social services committee, was to approve the alterations. Procedures to approve the raising of the loan were begun earlier this month. The loan would be serviced by an annual rate of 0.003811 cents in the dollar on capital value of rateable properties in the city.
