Stallion statistics
South Island-based stallions were prominent on the list of leading sires according to Racing Conference statistics until the end of March. Palatable was placed fourth with 39 winners of $670,997 close behind the third placed Straight Strike. Noble Bijou is thirteenth on the list with 23 winners of just over $333,000 followed by Beaufort Sea in fourteenth position with 31 individual winners of $325,998. Sir Godfrey is twenty-first on the list and Savant, with three winners from just five starters, fifty-third. Three Legs, sire of the DB Draught Classic winner, Horlicks, is a clear leader, his stock’s earnings being $977,605, $605,000 of which was credited by Horlicks’ victory in the Ellerslie $1 million feature.
