Parkview Clinic provides the Wellington Hospital Board’s pregnancy counselling and termination service and is an outpatient unit situated within Wellington Hospital grounds. The Senior Social Worker is responsible for the provision of counselling services provided by a team of six social workers, 3.6 W.T.E. Skills in team leadership, supervision and staff management are sought. The successful applicant will have a social work qualification and considerable experience in counselling, preferably in health-related fields. The Senior Social Worker is responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the Clinic in consultation with the Nursing Supervisor. This is a temporary position for a period of one year, and subject to a review, may be extended for a further temporary period of one year; after which the position may become permanent. The appointee will be responsible for the development and maintenance of a comprehensive recreational programme for employees of the Board; and for the encouragement of staff participation in a wide range of both active and passive activities and programmes. It is essential that applicants have had a minimum of 1 year's professional experience in the recreation industry; and/or possess a Diploma in Parks & Recreation or similar such tertiary qualification. Applicants must be mature with a high . degree of self motivation; an ability to deal with a wide range of people in a relatively small occupational community.
