Aust, hunt for abducted girl
NZPA-AAP Melbourne The Victorian police were yesterday stepping up their hunt for a girl, aged 10, feared abducted from her home early yesterday. Detective Chief Inspector Des Johnson, leading the investigation, said that Sharon Louise Wills was believed snatched from her bedroom in the family home at Hillcrest Avenue in east Melbourne’s suburban Ringwood as her three sisters slept.
But the police had no immediate clue on any motive. “We are very concerned for her safety,” Mr Johnson said. “There have been reports of a prowler in the area and we are now searching bushland around here and doorknocking every house.” Mr Johnson said Sharon vanished after a robber, brandishing a handgun and wearing a ski mask and blue overalls, tied up her parents with electric wire in their bedroom
