Appropriate to the occasion is the “Requiem” by Gabriel Faure with soloists Shelley Spang (who sang the role with the National Youth Choir and who is just back from the National Youth Choir’s successful European tour) and James Baines, a Christchurch baritone. Also to be performed is "The Peaceable Kingdom” by Randall Thompson. The other works on the programme are “A Choral Flourish” composed recently by John' Ritchie, the “Academic Festival Overture,” “Opus 80” and “In Watermelon Days.” The conductors will be Robert Field-Dodgson and John Young. The society is working with the Christchurch Youth Orchestra led by Sarah McClelland, a Christchurch violinist and with Wallace Woodley on the Baldwin organ.
