Olympiad
Sir, —The Olympiad is not the Games. The Oxford Dictionary defines the meaning of Olympiad as: “A period of four years reckoned from one celebration of the Olympic Games to the next, by which the ancient Greeks computed time, the year 776 8.C., being taken as the first year of the first Olympiad.” It is incorrect to refer to the Olympic Games as the Olympiad. — Yours, etc., ROBIN GRAY.
