Firearm incidents
The Christchurch police were called to three firearms incidents about 12.45 p.m. yesterday in Riccarton, Sydenham and Bishopdale. In Riccarton an armed man was spotted walking behind some shops but the police discovered subsequently he was walking home with an air rifle. A claim by a Sydenham resident that a firearm was being used in a domestic fight by a man later proved false, and in Bishopdale a person reported to be using a firearm in a backyard was only having some target practice. No arrests were made.
