The days of searching musty property records seem to be nearing an end with the launch of a new computerised service this week. At a function in. the Beehive, a contract was signed to initiate the service, run jointly by Valuation New Zealand, formerly the Valuation Department, and Government Computing. i A videotex terminal and telephone line allows businesses such as real estate

agents and legal firms to have direct: (access to the records of New Zealand’s 1.3 million properties.

The service is called Provided Property valuation information data inquiry system and will allow subscribers to examine the (details of property titles) anywhere in New Zealand. ( The contract initiating the service was signed between the Minister in charge of (Valuation, Mr Tapsell, and the Minister in charge of Government Computing, Mr Prebble.
