Bank cuts lending rate
PA Wellington The National Bank will drop its base lending rate to 18.5 per cent from 19.0 per cent, effective from March 2. The move was the second time the bank has dropped its base rate this year, said its chief executive, Mr Jim Macaulay, yesterday. The downward adjustment followed the fall in rates paid for deposits in recent weeks.
