North Canty coasts to win
The North Canterbury cricket team had a comfortable 10-wicket win over West Coast in the two-day Übix Cup elimination match which finished at Dudley Park, Rangiora, yesterday. A batting highlight was the performance of Mike Satterthwaite who scored 55 runs in only 40min in North Canterbury’s first innings. His score included two sixes and nine fours. John Hamilton bowled his left-arm medium-pacers effectively to take six West Coast wickets for 20 runs during Saturday’s play and the off-spinner, Miles Stapyl-ton-Smith, grabbed a fivewicket bag in the second innings. For West Coast, Russell Drake had a good batting double of 65 and 40. The present points standings in the elimination series are: North Canterbury 27 points (3 games), Marlborough 18 (3), Nelson 8 (2), West Coast 8 (3), Buller 1 (3).
