Post offices
Sir, —The campaign being organised by Mr Bill Woods to prevent the closing of more than 400 post offices could be looked upon as only a “sham fight” unless Mr Woods is prepared to go much further than he indicates. As Labour candidate for Selwyn at the last election he should have known his party’s intentions and begun his fight then. If he knew and is only now fighting the closings because of consequent future vote losses he will lose his credibility. If he did not know and wishes to retain credibility he should pledge his resignation from the Labour Party if these obnoxious closings are implemented.—Yours, etc., J. F. GARVEY. January 20, 1988.
