Education Vacanciw THE UNIVERSITY OF AUCKLAND A CHAIR IN COMMERCIAL LAW (Carrying with it the Headship ot the Department of Commercial Law) THE Department of Commercial Law is one of the five departments in the School of Commerce, the other four being Accounting and Finance, Management Studies and Labour Relations, Marketing and International Business, and Management Science and Information Systems. The Department and the chair are newly established, following division of the Department of Accountancy. Staff in the Department of Commercial Law are responsible for teaching and research in a range of legal subjects broadly related to commerce, including the legal system and the law relating to contracts, business organisation, finance, taxation, insolvency, competition, computers and Information, labour, and marketing and international business. The major teaching activity is in the undergraduate programme (B.Com) of the School of Commerce. In addition staff contribute to the MBA programme for the Graduate School of Business. There Is also a small graduate programme for the degrees M.Com and M.Phll, with emphasis on taxation and competition law. Applicants should have: — A strong record of teaching, research and publication in a discipline central to the work of the Department: — Demonstrated ability to provide academic leadership in teaching and research, and in departmental development and administration. Appointment to the Headship is for an initial term of five years. Commencing salary will be established within the range SNZ6B,OOO-$85,000 per annum, having regard to the qualifications of the candidate concerned.
