The University has recently embarked on a program of expansion In its computing facilities, and it is hoped to establish an Ethernet campus network which will allow the connection of MicroVAX computers, individual IBM PC’s and networks ot PC’s. The appointee will be expected to take part in the planning and implementation of this network and also to be responsible for the maintenance of PC’s and printers. There are also longer-term plans for data communications around the University region. Level of appointment (and title) will depend'upon qualifications and experience in the Senior Technician scale: Fsll,llo- - or Chief Technician scale: F 515,017-20,409. The University currently recleves aid funds to pay additions to salary as an Inducement to staff from New Zealand, who are appointed fo posts designated for this purpose. This post has been designated for payment of inducement allowance, details of which are available from the Registrar. In addition, the University provides gratuity amounting to 15 per cent of basic salary, appointment allowance and subject to the University’s current housing policy, partly furnished accommodation at a rental of 1216 per cent of salary. The University will contribute 10 per cent of the appointee’s salary towards an approved superannuation scheme or provident fund. Appointment will be for a contract period of three years and , may be renewable by mutual agreement.
